CEWC Associate Teachers

Wales based │ 2 days per year │ CPD (funded by CEWC) │ Voluntary with Honorarium + Travel Expenses

If you are a qualified teacher, passionate about engaging young people in global issues and recognise the value of citizenship education, you could receive further training funded by CEWC and join our talent pool of CEWC Associate Teachers.

The Council for Education in World Citizenship (CEWC) is a registered charity in Wales. Since 1944, our work has focused on enabling people of Wales to understand and act on global issues.

Our Associate Teacher programme consists of a small network of teachers across Wales, trained to deliver between 1 - 4 workshops per year in the name of CEWC for students in primary schools, secondary schools and  colleges of further education. Workshops cover a range of topics relating to global citizenship, such as human rights, sustainable development, global poverty, conflict, democratic participation, and the work of the United Nations. By bringing this learning focus into the classroom, students are able to understand more about Wales, Europe and the World (a requirement of the Welsh Baccalaureate) and Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC).

The CEWC Associate Teacher programme is particularly suited to:

  • Recently Qualified Teachers looking for experiences that enhance their CVs;
  • Supply teachers looking for CPD opportunities;
  • Retired colleagues who are supportive of the work of CEWC.

To apply, please email your CV and a covering letter to our Education Development Manager, Mark Charman at: markcharman@wcia.org.uk.
